Cayman Islands to be baton’s 44th host

GRAND CAYMAN, 31 March 2010: The Cayman Islands will be the 44th nation to host Queen's Baton Relay 2010 Delhi. The baton will travel to Cayman Islands from Jamaica on 31 March 2010. A welcome ceremony will be organised at the VIP lounge of the Owen Roberts Airport. It will then visit to local schools such as Red Bay Primary, George Town Primary School and John Grey High School. Visits will involve question and answer sessions about Commonwealth Countries.


Next day, on 1 April 2010, the baton will visit five local schools and there will be an evening Cocktail reception at the Governors House with Members of Parliament, Heads of Corporations, National Sports Federation representatives and national CGF representatives attending the function.


On 2 April 2010, the baton will pay visit to two local schools and some historical locations before leaving the Cayman Islands for The Bahamas.


The Cayman Islands is a British overseas territory located in the western Caribbean Sea. The territory comprises the islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman, located south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica.


The Cayman Islands is participating in all Commonwealth games since 1978 Games held in Edmonton, Canada.
