Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi’s 170,000 kilometres long journey to culminate in Pakistan

LAHORE, 23 June 2010: The Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi’s 240 day long journey, spanning approximately 170,000 Kilometres, around the world will culminate in Pakistan. The baton will reach Lahore on 23 June 2010. There will be a welcome ceremony at the airport by Members of the Pakistan National Olympic Committee followed by an official dinner with guests that may include Chief Minister Punjab, Senior Official of Punjab Government, Senior Officers of Pakistan Rangers, Ministry of Sports and Pakistan Sports Board, IOC Member of Pakistan, Pakistan Olympic Association members, National Federations members and media.


Next day, the relay will commence from Minar-e-Pakistan and will continue to Shahi Fort, Tomb of Allam Iqbal, Badshahi Mosque and Hazoori Bagh.


On Friday, 25 June 2010, the baton will crossing over the Wagah/Attari border to enter India and start its 100 day long domestic sector of its journey to reach Delhi 3 October 2010.


Pakistan first participated in 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games held in Vancouver, Canada. Pakistan is participating in all Commonwealth Games since 1990 Commonwealth Games held in Auckland, New Zealand.
