Queen’s Baton criss-crosses Haryana to reach Delhi’s doorstep

ROHTAK, 29 September 2010: The Queen's Baton 2010 Delhi continued its journey through Haryana to reach Rohtak on Tuesday. The team also paid a visit to Karnal , Panipat and Bhiwani. The baton received a warm welcome by renowned boxer Mr. Akhil Kumar along with other sportsmen including wrestler Mr. Ashok Kumar, boxer Mr. Jitender Kumar and Kabbadi player Mr. Sunder Singh.

The relay was flagged off at Panipat amidst great festivities. Enthusiasm amongst the gathered crowds soared as the relay passed through the streets of their town.

Thereafter, the baton team proceeded towards Bhiwani where they were conferred a congenial welcome by district administration officials, school children and local residents. A short relay took place here.

By the evening, the baton team reached Rohtak. Chief Minister of Haryana Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda was present on the occasion and also became the first Batonbearer at Rohtak. The relay culminated at Tagore stadium with a stunning cultural programme. The programme included traditional performances by local students and artists.

The Queen’s Baton now looks all set to cross the threshold of Delhi tomorrow.
