NEW DELHI: Volunteers who worked with the OC for the recently concluded CGF General Assembly were glad that they got an opportunity to volunteer. Sharing her thoughts, Shonali Chakravarty, a student of Lady Shriram College for Women said, “The experience of being a part of the CGF General Assembly volunteer programme was wonderful. In most ways it was learning and enlightening journey through the myriad functional areas that make up the Organising Committee.”

“As a student of Journalism, it provided me with the opportunity to not just observe government information system at close quarters but also proactively participate in the celebration of harmony, cooperation, prosperity and understanding that is Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. I am looking forward to an endearing association during Games time,” she said.

The views volunteers confirmed that young Indians have a strong sense of patriotism and working with OC as given them a feeling of fulfilment. Echoing the sentiments Vishesh Panwar, a student of SGTB Khalsa College said, “We have to unite ourselves and work for the success of the Games. We have to show the spirit of “Saare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustaan Hamara”. Our aim should be to live, work and die for the country.”

“I had a great experience of dealing and interacting with the delegates of all CGAs as I was posted at the International Airport. This is a great and unforgettable moment of my life. Basically what I think is that it was a great team work. I was elated when I got selected to volunteer for OC. On behalf of the volunteers I assure the workforce that we will work 24x7 for the mega event next year”, he said.
