Sustainable Transport Rally to mark the celebration of World Environment Day

The World Environment Day, commemorated yearly on 5 June, is a vehicle to raise awareness on environmental issues. The Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi (OC CWG Delhi 2010), which is organising the first ever Green Commonwealth Games, has planned to celebrate the World Environment Day by promoting the sense of ecological consciousness amongst the citizens of Delhi. A sustainable transport rally showcasing sustainable means of transport like cycles, electric cars, electric bikes, etc., will be organised. The rally will have two batches, one starting from the Delhi 2010 Headquarters at 7:30 am and another from the Chief Minister Mrs. Shelia Dikshit’s residence at 8:30 am. Both batches will converge at the Commonwealth Garden at the Africa Avenue, where a ceremonial tree plantation will be done.

The objective of this sustainable transport rally is to persuade and educate citizens on the use of sustainable means of transport.
