Anastasia Rodionova speaks to the media after her victory at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium

On being asked about her performance, she says, “It was my first singles match. I didn't play my best, but I won and hopefully I'll just pick up from there.” Currently she is the top seed at the Commonwealth Games. “I've just got to play every match as it comes and do my best. I don't really feel any extra pressure, I've worked hard for my ranking.”

About her competition ahead in the women's singles she says, “All the Australian girls are in good form and Sania Mirza will do well.” About Delhi 2010, she has a few kind words which she shared. She says it's a great feeling and it's completely different.

"It's great to see so many people in the Village. Australia is doing well and I hope to be a part of that and pick up a medal.”

On playing in front of a smaller crowd, “Last year my ranking dropped a lot, so I played some smaller tournaments. But that's our job, to play for big and small crowds. I just try my best.” - GNS
