Delhi 2010 action to hit city streets

After five days of intense competition inside the stadia, the action at Delhi 2010 is all set to hit the city's streets. Long-distance runners, walkers and cyclists will be seen on Delhi's roads from Saturday. The road events kick off with the 20km race, scheduled to begin at 6:30 am. Men and women's events will commence with a gap of 15 minutes and 55 athletes, including 23 women, will be vying for top honours when they run through Sansad Marg and Rajpath.

On Sunday, the same road will see cyclists in action for the Road Race. Women cyclists will have to cover a distance of 112 kilometres while men will have to sweat out a little more as for them the distance is 168 kilometres.

The athletes will pedal through Parliament Street, Red Cross Road, Rajendra Prasad Marg, Janpath, Rajpath and Vijay Chowk, Connaught Place, Barakhamba Road, Minto Road and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg. The cycling action then shifts to Noida with Time Trial events beginning from Wednesday. The Noida Expressway will host the fast-paced Women's 29-km Individual Time Trial and the Men's 40-km version.
