Malaysia win Women’s 10m Air Rifle Pairs

Malaysia's Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi and Nur Ayuni Halim won Gold in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Pairs event at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range on Saturday.

The duo scored a total of 793 to stay clear of their Singaporean rivals, who finished with a total of 790 to bag Silver. India, with 785 points, claimed Bronze. Initially it was the Singaporean pair of Ser Xiang Wei Jasmine and Chen Jian Huan Sin who were leading with a perfect score of 200 in the first round, but Ser could not keep up the momentum.

The Malaysian duo, who had scored 199 in the first round, followed up with a perfect 200 in the second to edge past Singapore.

In the third and fourth rounds, Malaysia put up an identical score of 197 to finish with a total of 793 points while Singapore finished three points behind.

India, which has won 10 gold medals in the Shooting competition so far, had to settle for Bronze – Suma Siddharth Shirur and Kavitha Yadav could only manage to score a total of 785.

Yadav revealed later that she could not concentrate as she wasn’t feeling well. “I have a bad cough and cold,” she said.
