Maurice Smith, Trecia Smith & Kenia Sinclair lead Jamaican track and field squad

NEW DELHI: IAAF World Championships medal winners Maurice Smith (decathlon), Kenia Sinclair (women’s 800m) and Trecia Smith (women’s triple jump) head a list of 48 athletes who will represent Jamaica in next month’s Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi here, according to reports in the Jamaican media

Maurice Smith, who has silver medals in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games besides gold medals in the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games and Pan American Games, will be joined in the decathlon competition by Claston Bernard, who won gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2002.

National 800m record holder Sinclair has won silver medals at the Commonwealth Games and the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2006 while Trecia Smith, the 2005 world triple jump champion will be defending her gold medal  won in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

The team also features IAAF Continental Cup double gold medal winning hurdler Nickesha Wilson, Commonwealth Games silver medal winner shot putter Dorian Scott, who is a two-time shot put CAC champion and National 100m and high jump champions Oshane Bailey and Sheree Francis.
